Apple vs Android: Which Smartphone Is Better?

Most adults have already chosen a side in the Apple versus Android debate. And most of that decision is driven by other hardware, from laptops to tablets.

Someone who buys an Android as their first smartphone is likely to stick with Google devices—and the same is true for Apple. That being said, you can always switch from one software system to another in order to try out how the other system works.

If you’re considering switching over from Apple or Android to the ‘other side’, then you should do some research. Though both operating systems offer a state-of-the-art smartphone experience, they each have distinct strengths and weaknesses. To ensure you’re making the right selection, check out this comparison between Apple and Android smartphones.

Android Is Better for Entertainment

If you plan on using your phone for gaming or video streaming, then Android offers a better experience. This is true across a range of experiences, including competitive gaming at an eSports caliber. But even in the casual realm, Android delivers.

For example, even if you enjoy casual gaming on platforms like PokerStars Casino, which offers a range of leading roulette, blackjack, and slot games, then Android is a great selection. Whether playing slots or blackjack, you can expect fast loading and excellent graphics.

The same is true for video streaming on sites like Hulu. Android tends to offer a slightly more elevated entertainment experience thanks to its high-end features and entertainment-specific design. On top of that, most Android devices have a better battery, which lets you game or watch content for hours on end.

Apple Evaluates Its Apps More Stringently

Android devices are more clearly geared toward entertainment thanks to their specs and features. That being said, there’s one key difference that you need to know: Apple tends to review its apps more stringently. If you’re downloading a platform like Hulu, it doesn’t matter whether you have an Apple or Android device because both developers are highly trusted.

But what about lesser-known apps? After all, anyone can develop and program an app, then submit it for sale in the Google Play and Apple App Stores. When it comes to what’s on sale in each app store, Apple has a much more rigid review system. That means you’ll find more higher quality apps and fewer duds when using an Apple product.

Apple Has Stronger Security

On top of that, Apple smartphones are also known for having state-of-the-art security systems. Once again, that isn’t to say that Android devices are at risk for security threats. However, if security is something that you’re focused on, then Apple’s closed ecosystem of products and end-to-end encryption make it leagues ahead of Android devices.

That puts you less at risk of cyber threats like malware and data collection. Not only are you more protected thanks to the fact that Apple reviews the apps offered in its store, but you’re also more protected from more generalised types of attacks launched on public Wi-Fi and other less secure networks.

Android Offers More Customization & Options

Lastly, the most important difference between Apple and Android devices is the range of customization and options that Android users have. Apple’s security is boosted by its closed ecosystem of products—which also limits how much customization a smartphone user can create.

From a software perspective, if you like to personalize your interface, then Android smartphones are best for you. Similarly, if you want more options in terms of hardware, then Android should be on your radar. While Apple only offers its iPhone products, there are over a dozen smartphone providers in the Google network, letting you target the right product for your budget and interests.

That also makes Android more attractive for someone considering a switch. You can easily target a lower-range Android device before deciding whether you like the experience. If you want, you can find products that are just as high-end and exclusive as the latest iPhone release.
